Kwame Kilpatrick = Corrupt Politician

Kwame Kilpatrick, the mayor of Detroit, is essentially THE sterotypical corrupt politician.

Kwame fired Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown, who was investigating charges of corruption and cover-ups committed by Kwame's security detail.

Kwame ordered the Police Department to lease an expensive luxury SUV for his wife and then lied about the lease, again and again, until overwhelming evidence forced him to admit that the vehicle existed. While the scandal was breaking, Kwame's security detail attacked a reporter trying to question Kwame.

Detroit is in economic dire straits, but it hasn't stopped Kwame from living it up while regular Detroiters struggle. Kwame charged over $200,000 to his city-issued credit card. After the press confronted him about this blatant irresponsibility- he volunteered to make a token payment. He insists $9,000 should cover all his personal charges, but city accountants say the likely amount owed is closer to $50,000.

The credit card scandal prompted Detroit's city council to unanimously request Kwame discontinue use of his city-issued credit card.

Even Time magazine recognizes that Kwame Kilpatrick's administration is a joke. Time named him one of the worst mayors in the country in April 2005.

Kwame Kilpatrick is a walking, talking joke. Were he a mayor in any other city- these scandals would have forced him to resign by now.
