To quote Summer Wheatly: "Who wants chimi-changas? Not Me."
| In what might be the greatest election non-event since Pedro let students beat up a pinata of Summer Wheatly, CNN has the story that I'm sure they were loathe to cover. According to polls less than 1/4 of Americans polled thought that the Foley Scandal was "extremely important" in how they vote in November's congressional elections. Let that sink in for a second and then remember that roughly half of America is part of the "anyone but Bush" crowd. They failed to carry roughly 1/2 of the Democrats in that poll. So why the apathy? Simple, Dems have finally gotten what they wanted they just didn't expect to get it so soon. How so? Follow me here. The Dems have cobbled together an conglomerate of special interest groups of differing levels of morality. What's justifiable with their Pro-choice segment is different than what is justifiable with their Gay Marriage segment and is also different from their Black Caucus segment. The way they achieved that is by promising everyone what they want and preaching "unity" over "morality." Don't believe me? Look back in the news and you can see where the Dems got Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to come into Dallas to ask preachers to not hammer on homosexuality from the pulpit because it hurts the polls among the "black community." (Thankfully, Pastor like TD Jakes reminded them that the pulpit is for messages from God, not anyone's political party.) While this has some level of resistance, it has worked in popular culture pretty well. On the other side of the board, you have the social conservatives. We haven't trusted the democrats for ages. All they do is tell us how our morals are so backwards and wrong for America. Ha HA HA! Fuck you. America was built with those morals and values and you guys are the recipients of that work. Pardon us that we won't bend over backwards to accommodate the nut cakes and special interests that run your party but things are how we like it so we don't see the need to let you put your shoes up on the sofa. So, when half of the country distrusts the Democrats right off the bat, we look at the Foley story and ask one thing: If the Republicans knew, and if they covered it up, as you guys say, then how long have the Dems known and why did they break the story two days after the deadline that could remove Foley from the ballot? Which is sorrier? Foley was at fault because it appears he's a sicko. The Dem's are quick to point that out and ask everyone with a "R" preceding their name to quit. They are worried about perserving morality in the congress. Next, Foley could take that page on a drive down to Chappaquiddick, right? He's gotta be stopped. The Republicans are wrong if they covered for it. But how about those Dems? Sitting on the story until it was politically useful to spill the beans? You guys aren't play your cards above the board either. What's worse is that you've morphed your own party into such a moral relativist party that only half of your base even cares. That's sad. So enjoy the political payoff that CNN has just clarified for you. You word is shot with half of us and half of your own just don't care. |
